How to Replace an Audi G28 Engine Speed Sensor

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The grey wire is situated on the edge of transmission, just above the flywheel ring. This sensor sends an electrical signal through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU utilizes this information to control boost and fuel. It also sends an alert to the G5 Tachometer within the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used as a reference to correlate with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu must be aware of when the crankshaft has reached TDC, and the location of the camshaft to trigger the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails, the ECU will display the P00160 error, which means the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft aren't in sync and could indicate the chain is stretched or a jump link on the upper chain of timing. 2. Injectors

Yesterday, while accelerating from the highway paytoll at a high speed I noticed a massive decrease in power. It was like the engine was running out of gas. Or my injectors were not firing. This morning i pull out the spark plugs. Three were drenched with gazoline the fourth was dry. When i crank the engine without sparks, I put a piece of tissue on the top of each of the injector holes and the 3 drenched with gazoline leap out, however the 4th one stays closed. I tried to test the ground connections of ECU pins 14,30, and 48/55. I got zero ohm. I'm assuming the issue is in another place.

I also tried to reset the PID with no success. The car is able to start when the G28 is disconnected and runs fine when it is connected however it is experiencing intermittent misfires at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62), even new audi key if it is not plugged in, shows an ice temperature of -49c. Also i noticed that the oil pressure gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar when the actual pressure is 0.0 when I crank up the engine.

I don't know what to do. I feel like i've pretty much all other possibilities out. I'm afraid i may have missed something. If anyone has any suggestions, please chime in! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump
